A New Home for Westbrook

After an injury-filled 2009 NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles released Brian Westbrook in February. During the time that he was healing and coping-up with the injury, he had been talking to a lot of new possible coaches from various teams that will still believe in his potentials. He was unable to play for eight games last season due to concussions and an injured ankle.

After insisting the doctors that he is now fit to play again, he is welcoming his fresh start with the Niners who believed in his capability of performing well after all the injuries. The San Francisco 49ers made his comeback with a one-year deal covering $1.25 million guarantee extending up to a maximum of $2.5 million including all the incentives. This is definitely a fresh and brand-new start for Westbrook after also being considered by the Cowboys, Rams and Redskins. He is on a very positive ground and envisions his new team to be playing well in achieving what every team wanted, to win the finals.

Westbrook has an undisputed record of making 426 receptions, 29 receiving touchdowns and a receiving yard of 3,372 back when he was still with the Eagles. Furthermore, he has also been a two-time Pro Bowler.

Now that the Niners have Westbrook, the eyes of the team’s follower and the sports bettor are now focused on him. The Niners are set to have their first game against the Seahawks on Sunday, September 12, 2010.
